CITY EVENTS & CALENDAR

  • ATTENTION CITY OF OTSEGO RESIDENTS Anyone that is currently running water, you may stop running your water to prevent freezing. You MUST call City Hall and report the date you stop running your water. Credits will not be issued unless City Hall was notified of the Start and End Dates. Credits are being based upon previous usages. If you have questions, please call City Hall at 692-3391. Thank you for your cooperation.

  • The City Is Experiencing Many Frozen Water Services. - If you are on West Franklin - West Morrell - West Hammond - McKinley - East Franklin - East Orleans - or Court Street - PLEASE run your water- A SMALL PENCIL STREAM - to prevent freezing. CONTACT City Hall if you run your water - so that you get the proper credit on your utility bill. DO NOT STOP running your water until you have contacted City Hall and we advise you to do so (which could go on for a couple of months). Thank you.

  • Water & Sewer Issues - Please call City Hall first, so that the City can determine if it is a City issue or the homeowners responsibility. 692-3391 or after hours 692-6111.
  • Running Water - If you are running your water (pencil thin steam) - Call City Hall when you start this process, so you are issued a credit for running your water - also call City Hall when you stop running your water, so that your meter can be read. PLEASE NOTE - even if there are a few days of warm weather DO NOT stop running your water!! - The City will communicate when you should stop running your water. If you have questions call City Hall - 692-3391.

DOOR-TO-DOOR SALESPEOPLE - REMINDER

A reminder that any person that goes door to door to sell anything - MUST BE REGISTERED at City Hall. If you chose to talk to them, MAKE SURE to ask them if they are registered and ask to see their Signed License. Please NOTE that the City of Otsego is in no way endorsing the Licensed Person or what they are marketing. If they DO NOT have a License - please call City Hall or the Police Department.

    BRUSH PICK-UP

    Curb-side brush pick up for residents is scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month. Loose brush should be placed in the curb lawn before 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled day of pick-up, but no sooner than the week before. No large limbs will be picked up. Limbs up to 4 inches in diameter and no longer than 8 feet in length and no more than one truck load will be picked up. Please, arrange brush so that the trunk of the limb is facing the street and piles are no higher than 4 feet in height, this will allow for easier pick-up. Rocks, root-balls, flowers, tree trunks, and like material or brush generated by a commercial tree service will not be picked up. These materials can also be taken to the City's Transfer Station free of charge. Thank you for your cooperation!

    CITY OF OTSEGO PASSES COMPLETE STREETS RESOLUTION

    Otsego, MI. - The City of Otsego continued their vision of designing a healthy and accessible community at their regular scheduled City Council meeting Monday night.

    Otsego City Council members unanimously approved a Complete Streets Resolution to include Complete Streets design considerations and practices as a routine part of infrastructure planning and implementation. The resolution comes after a presentation was made by Kathryn Gray, Public Policy Specialist for Disability Network/Lakeshore, to the Otsego Planning Commission at their June 27th meeting indicating the benefits of such a resolution.

    Ordinance 156, An Ordinance To Amend Article Iii, Division 1 Of Chapter 10 Of The Code Of Ordinances Of The City Of Otsego, Michigan, To Provide For The Registration And Inspection Of Rental Dwellings

    AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 46-31 AND TO ADD SECTION 46-32 TO THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF OTSEGO TO REGULATE BEGGING AND SOLICITATION WITHIN THE CITY

    This Ordinance amends Section 46-31 and adds Section 46-32 to the City of Otsego Code of Ordinances Regulating Begging and Solicitation within the City

    This Ordinance will be offered for a second reading and adoption at the next regular meeting of the Otsego City Commission, Monday, December 2, 2013, 7:00 p.m. Otsego City Hall, 117 E. Orleans St., Otsego, MI. This Ordinance shall take effect twenty (20) days following adoption by the Otsego City Commission and upon publication of this summary in accordance with City Charter.

    PUBLIC NOTICE - CHANGES IN CURBSIDE RECYCLING PROGRAM

    Residents of the City of Otsego will be given carts to replace the current bins that are used to pick up Recycling. The City contracts with Bestway Disposal to collect recyclable materials the first Tuesday of each month from each home that has a recycle bin placed on the curb. During the December collection (Tuesday, December 6th), the current bins will be exchanged with carts. Please leave your bins on the curb, as it will take a few days for all bins to be exchanged. If you do not have bins and wish to participate please contact City Hall.

    NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER AN AMENDMENT TO THE CITY OF OTSEGO ZONING ORDINANCE

    The Otsego Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on February 25, 2013, at City Hall, 117 East Orleans, Otsego, MI 49078, at 7:00 p.m., local time, to consider public comment regarding a proposed amendment to the Otsego Zoning Ordinance to regulate Charity Collection Boxes within the City of Otsego.

    Copies of the proposed amendment are available for inspection at the office of the City Clerk, 117 East Orleans, Otsego, MI 49078, during normal City business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding City holidays. Written comments concerning the proposed amendment may be submitted to the City Clerk by first class mail or in person up to the meeting time.
