  • New Commissioner - Ryan Wieber - partial term to expire November 2013. Ryan is a 13 year resident of Otsego, is married to Molly, and has three children. He is the former director of the Otsego District Library, a trustee for the Otsego Area Historical Society, and is currently the director of the Van Buren District Library.
  • Mollys Last MeetingCommissioner Wieber receiving her Resolution of Appreciation from Mayor Gilmer. Thank you Commissioner Molly Wieber for your dedicated service to the citizens of the City of Otsego! However, we are pleased to announce that Molly will be assuming the duties of Otsego's Main Street Manager beginning April 24th. Stop by and see her new office at 128 E. Allegan Street!

DOOR-TO-DOOR SALESPEOPLE - REMINDER

A reminder that any person that goes door to door to sell anything - MUST BE REGISTERED at City Hall. If you chose to talk to them, MAKE SURE to ask them if they are registered and ask to see their Signed License. Please NOTE that the City of Otsego is in no way endorsing the Licensed Person or what they are marketing. If they DO NOT have a License - please call City Hall or the Police Department.

CITY OF OTSEGO - CITY COMMISSION

Commissioners were sworn in at the Organizational Meeting held on November 14th. The Commission welcomes Stacy Rogers to the Commission. For further information please see the City Commission Page. Thank you to Joel M. Thompson for his many years of service on the City Commission.

BRUSH PICK-UP

Curb-side brush pick up for residents is scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month. Loose brush should be placed in the curb lawn before 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled day of pick-up, but no sooner than the week before. No large limbs will be picked up. Limbs up to 4 inches in diameter and no longer than 8 feet in length and no more than one truck load will be picked up. Please, arrange brush so that the trunk of the limb is facing the street and piles are no higher than 4 feet in height, this will allow for easier pick-up. Rocks, root-balls, flowers, tree trunks, and like material or brush generated by a commercial tree service will not be picked up. These materials can also be taken to the City's Transfer Station free of charge. Thank you for your cooperation!

CITY OF OTSEGO PASSES COMPLETE STREETS RESOLUTION

Otsego, MI. - The City of Otsego continued their vision of designing a healthy and accessible community at their regular scheduled City Council meeting Monday night.

Otsego City Council members unanimously approved a Complete Streets Resolution to include Complete Streets design considerations and practices as a routine part of infrastructure planning and implementation. The resolution comes after a presentation was made by Kathryn Gray, Public Policy Specialist for Disability Network/Lakeshore, to the Otsego Planning Commission at their June 27th meeting indicating the benefits of such a resolution.

PUBLIC NOTICE - CHANGES IN CURBSIDE RECYCLING PROGRAM

Residents of the City of Otsego will be given carts to replace the current bins that are used to pick up Recycling. The City contracts with Bestway Disposal to collect recyclable materials the first Tuesday of each month from each home that has a recycle bin placed on the curb. During the December collection (Tuesday, December 6th), the current bins will be exchanged with carts. Please leave your bins on the curb, as it will take a few days for all bins to be exchanged. If you do not have bins and wish to participate please contact City Hall.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER AN AMENDMENT TO THE CITY OF OTSEGO ZONING ORDINANCE

The Otsego Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on February 25, 2013, at City Hall, 117 East Orleans, Otsego, MI 49078, at 7:00 p.m., local time, to consider public comment regarding a proposed amendment to the Otsego Zoning Ordinance to regulate Charity Collection Boxes within the City of Otsego.

Copies of the proposed amendment are available for inspection at the office of the City Clerk, 117 East Orleans, Otsego, MI 49078, during normal City business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding City holidays. Written comments concerning the proposed amendment may be submitted to the City Clerk by first class mail or in person up to the meeting time.
