The City of Otsego / Otsego Fire Department is accepting resumes and applications for paid on-call Fire Fighters. The (4) four-minute rule is no longer in effect, the open positions are for individuals within the general fire district. Applications may be picked up at City Hall and the Otsego Fire Department during normal business hours. You may also visit https://www.cityofotsego.org/fire-department/ for an application.
Job Description:
Have you ever considered serving your community in a rewarding and exciting way? The Otsego Fire Department currently has 12 paid on-call firefighters that are made up of area residents that respond to emergency situations as needed. Paid on-call fire fighters work under the general supervision of the officers of the department and perform the duties of emergency fire and medical response operations for the residents of Otsego City and Township.
General Work:
At the officers’ direction, you will assist in the extinguishment and control of fires, extrication of patients from vehicles or other places they may be trapped, assist in the operation of the automated external defibrillator, perform CPR and give medical aid as required. Place ground ladders, advance fire hose attack lines and all other duties related to the function of a fire department. Participate in fire department training, obtain certifications, and maintain proficiency.
Employment Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent * Experience: Valid State of Michigan Vehicle Operator License * Certification of State of Michigan Medical First Responder level * Michigan Fire Fighter Training Council (MFFTC) Fire Fighter I/II * MFFTC – Hazard Materials Awareness/Operations : Current CPR certification * Reliable transportation. City of Otsego is accepting resumes for a full-time police officer position from qualified candidates. The City of Otsego provides 24-hour police coverage to the citizens of Otsego. The hours consist of 12-hour shifts, both days and nights, 5am-5pm, 5pm-5am, along with a swing shift starting between the hours of 1pm-1am. The City of Otsego has a population around 4500 people.
