PUBLIC NOTICE – WING BLADES ARE COMING!

In the coming days the City of Otsego plow trucks will be utilizing a rarely used tool; wing blades.  The purpose of the wing blades is to apply the snow found on the road to the top of the current snow banks along City streets.  You will notice that the banks have been growing, and growing, and growing…  When plow trucks come through they are pushing the snow off the roads only to hit the banks and fall back down onto the edges of the road leaving the roads messy and not cleared.  The wing blades will place it on top of the banks.  It has been multiple years since these have been used.  And with the low temperatures, none of the snow is melting and they may be needed for the foreseeable future.  Please continue to drive with caution.  Unfortunately, there is no end in sight.

Running Water Notice

 The City has been diligently watching the depth of the frost in the ground all winter. With the current cold temperatures, we are experiencing, we are receiving many calls regarding credits for running water. At this time, the City is not advising to run your water due to freezing, in regards to the City water mains. 

 If you have had internal freezing issues in the past, such as discoloration of the water, and/or loss of pressure, you then should run a small pencil stream of water if this internal freezing issue occurs. Property owners who experience internal freezing issues, please be advised they are not the responsibility of the City and water credits are only administered when the freezing is related to the City mains, or advised by the City. The City will continue to monitor the depth of the frost and will advise residents of any updates via the Shopper’s Guide, our Website, and Facebook. Notice of Board of Review Meeting

The December session of the 2025 Board of Review will convene on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Otsego City Hall at 10:00 a.m.

The purpose of the meeting is to correct any qualified errors relative to the 2024 and 2025 Assessment Rolls. (Property valuation disputes, however, can only be addressed at the annual March Board of Review.) The December Board of Review also has the authority to act upon disabled veteran exemption and poverty exemption applications. Disabled veteran exemption applications and poverty exemption applications are available at City Hall or online at www.cityofotsego.org.

 2025 LEAF PICK-UP IS COMPLETE. LOOSE LEAVES WILL NO LONGER BE PICKED UP. THE CITY LEAF COLLECTION HAS BEEN COMPLETED. FOR SAFETY PURPOSES – DO NOT PLACE LEAVES IN THE STREET. LEAVES MAY BE TAKEN TO THE CITY’S TRANSFER STATION LOCATED OFF OF HELEN AVE. FREE OF CHARGE. THE TRANSFER STATION IS OPEN TUESDAYS, THURSDAYS, AND SATURDAYS FROM 9:00 A.M. TO 11:45 A.M. AND FROM 1:00 P.M. TO 3:45 P.M. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.
