Public Notice Office of City Commissioner Three Open Seats November 3, 2026

 DEADLINE TO FILE JULY 21, 2026, 4:00 PM 

Petition forms/packets are now available at the office of the City Clerk, City Hall, 117 E. Orleans St., for election to the Otsego City Commission. 

The City Election will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Three Full-Term City Commission seats will be open for election this fall. The two candidates receiving the highest number of votes for the Full-Term Seats will be elected to four-year terms and the third candidate will be elected to a two-year term. 

In order to qualify for the Office of City Commissioner, a candidate must be: 

  • A resident of the City for not less than one (1) year immediately preceding his or her election. 
  • A registered voter, 

Nominations for office are determined by petition signed by not less than 40 registered voters of the City of Otsego. Petitions need to be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office no later than Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.

Job Posting – DPW Technician

The City of Otsego is now accepting applications for the position of DPW Technician. DPW Technician is a labor intensive position that requires a current and active CDL. The Otsego DPW is a small team that have many responsibilities. Duties will focus on maintenance of City-owned assets including streets, parks, and buildings among others. An ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of construction, general maintenance and mechanics and have an appreciation for teamwork and public service. This is a union position and will start at $26.72 an hour and will be increased to $28.82 after 6 months.

Notice of Project Plan Public Hearing

The City of Otsego will hold a public hearing on the proposed water system improvement project for the purpose of receiving comments from interested persons. 

The hearing will be held at the regular City Commission meeting at 7:00 p.m. on May 4, 2026, at Otsego City Hall: 117 East Orleans Street, Otsego, MI 49078. 

The purpose of the proposed project is to replace existing lead water service lines with copper in accordance with the Michigan Lead and Copper Rule and to improve the quality of water supplied to residents. These improvements are part of an ongoing effort by the City to maintain the water system. The proposed improvements will replace approximately 502 lead water services in the City. 

Impacts of the project include those experienced by typical construction projects, including noise, dust, disruption in local road usage, and temporary disruption of water service. The impacts are expected to be temporary in nature, and after construction, the affected areas will be restored to normal conditions. 

The estimated average cost equivalent to users for the proposed project is estimated to be $5.54 per month for the approximately $4.81 million project. 

Copies of the plan detailing the proposed project are available for inspection at the following location: Otsego City Hall, 117 East Orleans Street, Otsego, MI 49078.
