Due to the “stay home, stay safe” executive order, most burn permits are suspended across the state. Burning yard debris is the top cause of wildfires in Michigan. Suspending burn permits reduces the potential for wildfires, which will limit the risk of exposing first responders to coronavirus and make sure trained personnel and equipment are available to assist with COVID-19 response as needed. A burn permit is not required for cooking or recreational campfires (contained).
The City of Otsego transfer station will now be taking leaves and yard brush. The gates will be closed, but you may drop off your leaves and your yard brush at the designated locations immediately next to the transfer station. Please make sure to separate the leaves and yard brush and read the signs. Nothing else can be dropped off at the transfer station. Thank you for your understanding.
Please be advised that the March 23rd Planning Commission Meeting has been canceled.
The ZBA and City Commission Meeting for Monday March 16th has been cancelled.
The City of Otsego will be closed indefinitely, starting on Monday March 16th. In hopes of limiting personal contact we are closing city hall and directing everyone to use our payment drop box, online payment, voicemail or email. City hall will not be open. Our department heads will do their best to respond to your requests based on level of urgency.
Essential services such as Police, Fire, WWTP and DPW will be available. They will only be slightly modified, if at all. 911 services will not be altered in any way. If you have an emergency, please continue to use 911 as normal.
We apologize for the inconvenience this might cause but we want to protect our residents, employees and community as much as possible during these trying times. In relation to these changes, we will also be cancelling the City Commission meeting for Monday night.
